Our Credentials When Employer’s InfoSource was founded, we naively assumed that everyone in this business was qualified and performed due diligence for their clients. As we grew in this industry, we quickly discovered that this is a self-regulated industry. At least 60% of the companies calling themselves background investigation services or employment screening services and the like are unlicensed, inadequately insured, or enter into this endeavor with little or no task specific expertise or relevant experience. Many upstarts came into existence during the mid to late 90's, attempting to cash in on the huge economic boom that gave rise to unprecedented hiring. Simply stated, a huge demand gave rise to many opportunists seeking to make a quick dollar. In some notable worse case examples, a number of background companies intentionally misreport to appease the client's time constraints, employ illegal or questionable methodology or bill for services ordered, but not actually rendered. Prospective users of these services would be well advised to do their OWN background checks on any given company’s experience and professional track record.
